Historic Park Stair Reconstruction Project
Nakoma Park Stairs is located in Nakoma Park and is part of the Nakoma Historic District which was originally the site of a Ho-Chunk Village. The neighborhood is characterized by several architectural styles including Late 19th and 20th Century Revival: Colonial Revival; Late 19th and 20th Century Revival: Tudor Revival; and American Movement: Prairie School. ICA designed the precise deconstruction, restructuring and reconstruction of the Madison stone stairway that was failing due to subsoil erosion and inadequate footings and foundations.
