Historic Graduated Slate and Copper Roof Restoration Project

The Hartley Trust Office Building in Duluth, Minnesota, on the National Register of Historic Places, is a gothic brick and stone masonry structure with a rusticated graduated slate roof. ICA designed the roof rehabilitation project which included testing the original materials and recreating monumental slate with eyebrow dormers (very challenging). All historic copper was evaluated and replaced only as needed. From 2010 to 2011 ICA performed an abbreviated Historic Structure Report, developed the bidding documents for all phases of the building preservation process and provided full service observation of all restoration and preservation activities.
